Ministry of Transport Calls on Citizens to Obey Traffic Laws to Reduce Accidents

Banteay Meanchey: A road traffic education campaign was held at Banteay Meanchey Provincial Hall on Thursday, led by Secretary of State of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and Secretary-General of the General Secretariat of the NCDD, Mon Manvy.

The Secretary has reminded all citizens, including students, to continue respecting the traffic law in order to reduce the rate of accidents. At the same time, Mon Manvy has also urged relevant departments and units to participate in educating more people at local levels to be responsible following traffic laws or reading traffic signs along the roads while using helmets or seatbelts in vehicles.

According to the report of the Provincial Department of Public Works and Transport, compared to the first nine months of 2020, this year had 63 cases, an increase of 1 case, while 48 drivers lost their lives in traffic accidents in 2021 compared to 53 cases in 2020. There was an increase of four cases for serious accidents: 62 this year, compared to the 58 cases of last year.
